CROSSING VAST DISTANCES WITH EASE
Attempting to travel the distances we cover on this trip by road would take months. And to do it with a regular airline would require a lot of backtracking, with days wasted as you wait for many connecting flights.
The actual time we spend in the air for each leg of this journey isn’t that much. Many hours are saved by not having to be at the airport an hour or two before a flight, as you would have to with a normal commercial flight. This means our travel time is reduced significantly and, in many cases, we can use this additional time to begin touring as soon as we leave the aircraft.
REMARKABLE RESIDENCES BEFITTING THEIR SURROUNDS
There are many accommodation highlights on this journey, but I would have to say that Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island just blows my mind. We enjoy two nights here and it is as good as any accommodation I have stayed at anywhere in the world. The very next night makes for a wonderful contrast, as we stay at a cave hotel in Coober Pedy. Many of the hotel’s rooms are underground, which also makes for a special experience.
UTILISING LOCAL KNOWLEDGE & TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
The guides that Captain’s Choice uses on this journey are outstanding. Having access to expert local guides is always the best way to gain insider knowledge about a destination. One of my personal highlights was in Broome, where our local Indigenous guide, Robert Dann, taught us how to prepare and eat the bush tucker that was all around us. For many of our guests who had yet to travel there, Uluru was, of course, also a highlight. It’s very difficult to pick just one on a journey which has so many natural and cultural landmarks.
A JOYFUL & SHARED EXPERIENCE – ONLY UP TO 32 GUESTS
On our 2025 departure, everyone really gelled, which was half the fun. We had a diverse small group, including seasoned Captain's Choice travellers and those having their first experience with us. The tour culminated with a bush barbecue in Longreach. It was a fitting finale, with everyone having a fantastic time in a quintessentially Australian setting.
This tour ticks so many boxes for anyone wishing to travel to out-of-the-way places right across Australia. And our direct routes and seamless airport arrangements makes this the best way to see so much of what Australia has to offer, all in just 16 days.
