Arrive in Darwin, from where you’ll be chaperoned to the centrally located Hilton Darwin. Settle in as the anticipation builds for the beginning of our adventure. Get to know your fellow guests during a Welcome Dinner at Pee Wee’s at the Point. The outdoor coastal setting of East Point Nature Reserve sets the tone for our remarkable journey.

After breakfast at our hotel, we split into two smaller groups. Half of our guests enjoy an adventure in the Tiwi Islands. Our remaining guests, meanwhile, head out to explore Darwin before making the journey to Bamurru Plains.

Our first group boards a private charter flight to the Bathurst Island hub of Wurrumiyanga. Delve into the region’s rich history with an Indigenous arts and cultural experience. Visit the local arts centre to try your hand at screen printing before taking a fascinating guided tour of the community’s museum and church. Our private plane then delivers us to the remote Tiwi Island Retreat. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon before dining beneath the glow of the moon and stars.

Our second group begins an equally exciting day. Following a tour of Darwin, we board a Royal Flying Doctor Service aircraft and fly to Bamurru Plains, our secluded home on the edge of Kakadu National Park. Here, we learn of the range of experiences on offer from our hosts. You might like to look out for saltwater crocodiles while gliding across the floodplains by airboat. Alternatively, embark a cruise along the Sampan River. Of course, you’re also welcome to simply relax with a refreshing dip in our lodge’s infinity pool. The chance to spot diverse local wildlife, including brumbies, buffaloes, dingoes and wallabies, on a game drive or guided walk is also on offer. Toast the day with a nourishing meal, incorporating fresh locally sourced produce, that offers an authentic taste of the Top End.

Today is reserved for each group to enjoy the natural wonders of their respective destinations. Those in our Tiwi Islands group may like to head out on a beach buggy drive along Five Mile Beach, scanning the pristine landscape for wildlife. Or perhaps you would rather embark upon a fishing adventure at your own expense. Of course, you could always surrender to the beauty of the retreat itself, relaxing by the pool and taking the day at your own pace.

Our Bamurru guests also have a broad range of activities to choose from, including airboat safaris, game drives and guided walks. All of the available activities allow you to explore this vast property, while appreciating it from diverse perspectives. Later, return to our idyllic Safari Bungalows for a relaxing evening overlooking the lively floodplains.

Following breakfast, our two groups swap properties as we continue our Top End journey. Our Tiwi group board a private charter flight to Bamurru Plains, while the remainder of our guests fly to Tiwi Island Retreat, stopping in Wurrumiyanga for a cultural experience along the way. Settle into your new residence and look forward to the adventures to come.

Wake to the sounds of the bush, or beach, this morning ahead of another exciting day of memorable experiences. Those in the Tiwi Islands take part in a traditional Welcome to Country ceremony before choosing from the broad range of available activities along this stunning stretch of coastline. Those at Bamurru Plains have the day at leisure. Choose to relax and enjoy the amenities of our lodge or head out on a game drive or guided walk.

Awake with anticipation, as we prepare for our cruise of the Kimberley today. Tiwi Islands guests check out of Tiwi Island Resort, flying directly to Wyndham aboard a convenient private plane. Transfer to our super yacht Island Escape, settling into stylish and spacious suites for the next eight nights.

Bamurru Plains guests check out in the morning, flying to the remote Kimberley town of Kununurra aboard a Royal Flying Doctor Service aircraft. From here, embark upon an exclusive cruise of the Ord River aboard the purpose-built vessel Jabiru. Enjoy lunch during our voyage, admiring the landscape as it slowly passes by. Afterwards, transfer to Wyndham to reconvene with your fellow travellers aboard Island Escape. Join the captain and crew for cocktails and canapes on the deck, overlooking the sparkling Kimberley Coast. Our onboard chefs serve up a Welcome Dinner, as we familiarise ourselves with the luxurious amenities of our super yacht. Perhaps enjoy a nightcap or take in the night sky from the top deck’s jacuzzi as we sail towards King George Falls.

Standing 100 metres high, the imposing twin cascades of King George Falls lie ahead today.
Our Zodiacs allow us to journey along the King George River with ease before the spectacular falls reveal themselves. Marvel at the towering red sandstone cliffs as we cruise towards the tumbling waterfalls, inching our way close enough to be showered by the refreshing droplets of these powerful natural wonders. Spend the day exploring this stunning region, admiring its rugged scenery and abundance of wildlife. Return to Island Escape and sail to Faraway Bay, where we anchor for dinner, before proceeding to Vansittart Bay.

Following breakfast on board our vessel, we embark on an in-depth discovery of historic Vansittart Bay. Step ashore at one of the bay’s pristine white beaches and continue on to the area’s vast salt flats. Close by, we discover an unlikely artefact. The wreckage of a US Air Force DC3 plane has remained here ever since it lost its way, running out of fuel and crashlanding in 1942. Still largely intact, the aircraft is a stark reminder of northern Australia’s involvement in the war.

Lying within Vansittart Bay itself is Jar Island, which boasts some of the Kimberley’s most remarkable Gwion Gwion artwork, dating back thousands of years. We take our Zodiac to the island and explore its wonders, which powerfully demonstrate the region’s rich history and culture.

Rise to greet another enchanting Kimberley morning, as we arrive in picturesque Swift Bay. A short walk from our Zodiac landing, we find several rock shelters housing some of the region’s most fascinating rock art sites. A reminder of the Kimberley’s Indigenous past, present and future, these graceful pieces depict birds, fish and turtles, as well as spiritual Wandjina figures. After further exploration, we cruise back across the bay’s clear waters to our super yacht for lunch, before sailing to Winyalkan Island, whose remarkable geology has been shaped by water and wind over millions of years. We wander the rugged landscape, which is home to bats and geckos. Upon returning to Island Escape, relax and savour a cocktail as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.

Wake to the fresh sea air again this morning. We soon anchor near the mouth of the Hunter River, the stunning beaches of Naturalist Island lying before us. Upon setting foot on the island’s white sands, we embark on a scenic helicopter flight to one of the Kimberley’s most striking attractions, the four-tiered Mitchell Falls. Soar above the falls, admiring the Mitchell River as its waters converge in serene rock pools before tumbling into the deep gorge below.

After our flight, we have the opportunity to explore the region at close range, as we approach Mitchell River National Park’s diverse flora and fauna, before marvelling at its astonishing galleries of Indigenous rock art. Painted many thousands of years ago, the Gwion Gwion paintings are distinct from other forms of rock art, with their elongated human depictions. Return to our super yacht to revel in its amenities and indulge in another satisfying meal.

A remarkable tidal phenomenon lies ahead today as we visit the incredible Montgomery Reef, the world’s largest inshore reef. Aboard our convenient Zodiac vessels, we get up close to the reef as the significant tide turns and the reef appears to rise from the ocean, unveiling the vibrant world below the surface. Surrounded by cascading ocean waterfalls as far as the eye can see, we watch as the reef bursts into life. Keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife of the reef, from turtles, sharks and octopuses to manta rays, dugong and dolphins, alongside the region’s many birds flocking in for a fresh feast. Upon returning to Island Escape, perhaps gaze out to sea while enjoying a cocktail, toasting the day as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean. You may also wish to treat yourself to a relaxing dip in the sun deck’s jacuzzi, as we sail towards another adventure-filled day.

After a restful night sailing along the Kimberley’s rugged coastline, take in the sight of the arresting Buccaneer Archipelago during breakfast. Absorb views of rocky islands surrounded by enticing waters from the aft deck of our sleek yacht. Next, we board a high-powered jet boat for a special experience, getting up close and personal with the remarkable Horizontal Falls. The falls are created as one of the world’s greatest tides forces the pristine waters to rush through two narrow gorges at up to 20 knots. Shoot through the white-water phenomenon aboard your speedy vessel and admire the swirling waters of the Whirlpool Passage before passing back through the falls and returning to Island Escape. This evening, our chefs are sure to delight with another delectable dinner.

Sit down to breakfast on board as we sail to Broome. During an in-depth exploration of the city, we come to know more about this culture-rich and historic resort town. Learn about the pearling industry; visit Sun Pictures theatre; and stroll through vibrant Chinatown, marvelling at the diverse range of Indigenous art at Short St Gallery. Afterwards, we pause for lunch at Matso’s Broome Brewery. Pair your meal with a unique mango, lychee or chilli beer. Or perhaps a more conventional, but just as refreshing, ale or lager.

Our discovery of Broome’s wonders continues after lunch. From our position atop the rocky promontory at Gantheaume Point, we soak in views of the Indian Ocean as it fills the sweeping gulf between the horizon and ourselves. Then we visit the Chinese Cemetery to gain greater insight into the multicultural history of Broome. After a memorable day of sightseeing, we enjoy a Farewell Dinner together, toasting our journey at Zanders. Feast on the region’s freshest seafood while looking over a vast stretch of white sand and the pristine waters of Cable Beach. Return to Island Escape as we unwind on our luxury super yacht for the final time.

Say goodbye to our captain, crew and new-found friends this morning, as we disembark Island Escape. Our remarkable journey comes to an end as we make our way to the airport.
