At the furthest point of Sirmione’s peninsula, you will then reach the Grottoes of Catullus. The ruins of this archaeological park lay waiting to be discovered amid flourishing vegetation and its surrounding waters. Not far from here, the mineral-rich waters of one of Sirmione’s thermal springs soothe any aching muscles you may have. Lunch is served at the Michelin-starred restaurant, Speranzina. Here, time-honoured delicacies are discovered anew, thanks to the chef’s innovative approach.
— Climb aboard a helicopter for sublime aerial views of the region’s verdant valleys, punctuated by its idyllic lakes. Soar over the serene hamlet of Mendola-Mendel, admiring nearby Lake Caldaro, before passing over Lake Santa Giustina and the gleaming waters of Lake Molveno. Rome, Avezzano, Amalfi
Self-Drive
Approximately 336 kms and 4 hours driving
We farewell Rome in style, completing a circuit that takes our cars past some of the city’s most revered landmarks. Before making our journey to the Amalfi Coast, we first head inland to the town of Avezzano. Set against the Apennine Mountains, within Italy’s Abruzzo region, the town was rebuilt following a devastating earthquake in 1915. The area is also known for its hiking opportunities, owing to its abundant natural beauty.
Our afternoon is spent driving south as we make our gradual approach to the beautiful Amalfi Coast. Greeted by the blue waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, we guide our vehicles around the curves of the scenic coastal road. Just as we think we’ve witnessed the pinnacle of this dramatic circuit, the winding road grants yet more outlooks across to sheer cliffs and terraces stacked with houses. As we pull up to the Grand Hotel Furore, we find that some of the finest views have been saved until last.

Tonight, our magnificent Farewell Dinner takes place at Monastero di Santa Rosa, whose Michelin-starred restaurant offers an inventive interpretation on the cuisine of the Campania region.
