Itinerary
Mandalay (Myanmar)
We make ourselves comfortable within the splendour of the Rupar Mandalar Resort. Unwind while gazing out to the resort’s grounds from your private balcony, then get to know your fellow guests this evening during a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.
Embark Sanctuary Ananda, Monywa, Own Pin Seik, Ngar Own
Board the opulent Sanctuary Ananda and settle into your elegant suite before visiting Shwenandaw Monastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda. Back on board our ship, we toast the beginning of our voyage with a Welcome Dinner. At Monywa, we see the Thanboddhay Pagoda and Bodhi Tataung monastery. Enjoy a meditation session on the Sun Deck, then join our chef in preparing several delicacies.
Vientiane (Laos), Embark Sabaidee Pandaw
Having taken a flight to Laos, we are welcomed to the Settha Palace Hotel. Get to know the people of Vientiane through visits to its temples, as well as charitable and educational organisations. At Xieng Khuan Buddha Park, we admire its impressive collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures. Our Mekong cruise then begins aboard the Sabaidee Pandaw and we savour a Welcome Dinner on board our ship.
Masein, Mawleik, Hae Nin, Sitthaung
Our ship passes jungle and riverside villages to arrive at Masein. In Mawleik, we explore the vibrant market and colonial charm forming a part of Myanmar rarely seen by tourists. Afterwards, the thatched homes of Hae Nin form our backdrop as we once more drop anchor. Arriving at the northernmost point of our cruise in Paung Pyin, our vessel begins the return journey south. Perhaps join our chef for another cooking demonstration.
Minkin, Kani, Pakokku, Bagan
See the blend of European and Burmese architecture of the Mahar Minkyaung Monastery in Minkin, before cruising to Kani. At the Po Win Taung caves, rows of Buddha statues are seen, carved from the rock in which they sit. Back on board our ship, learn how to make cocktails, then visit a local market with our chef to buy ingredients for the evening meal. Watch the sun set over the Bagan Plains before savouring a candlelit dinner along the riverbank.
Disembark Sanctuary Ananada, Inle Lake, Yangon
Disembark our ship and travel to Inle Lake, where we see the leg-rowing fisherman and enjoy a private lunch upon a floating restaurant. Perhaps, join a Shan chef in helping to prepare a selection of dishes in a local home, before sitting down to eat with your hosts. In Yangon, you may choose to take a rare glimpse into the daily life of monks at Kalaywa Tawya Monastery. Celebrate our incredible journey with a Farewell Dinner.
Depart Yangon
Visit the National Museum and see the Lion’s Throne, an intricate work of art and example of traditional woodcarving. Afterwards, visit the city’s only remaining synagogue, before stopping at Bogyoke Aung San Market.
