Your World Hosts are made up of a Tour Manager, Tour Hosts, Tour Doctor, English-speaking local guides and experts including sommeliers and academics, among others.
Gordon Higman
Gordon started travelling at 19 years old and after 39 years has taken over 91 countries in stride. Joining our team in 2007, Gordon is always seeking another adventure and keen to procure exclusive and special moments in many destinations for our guests. His favourite destination is Laos and the Golden Triangle for the people, food and landscape that in his words are ‘remote and exotic’. His most memorable moment to date with Captain’s Choice was the helicopter flight around the head of ‘Christ the Redeemer’ in Rio then landing on Sugarloaf Mountain to a glass of champagne at sunset.
Suzanne Higman
Suzanne’s thirst for travel has seen her journey to over 90 countries. Since joining the team in 2008 Suzanne has ensured that her guests make organic connections with locals, see awe inspiring natural landscapes and receive a new enrichment from historical wonders. Her favourite destination is Africa for its diversity and incredible natural beauty, exotic wildlife and rich history, followed closely on its heels are Australia, India and South America for their sheer vibrancy and amazing experiences. Her most memorable moment with us was standing in the cave church of the Geghard Monastery in Armenia and listening to four pure voices sing Armenian Hymns in a tear-inducing encounter.
Jo Taylor
Jo’s favourite travel quote is “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list” – Susan Sontag, and with 70 countries successfully traversed she is well on her way. Jo is hard-pressed to pick a favourite destination as each and every one of them were a great source of enjoyment for different reasons. Joining the team in 2007, her attention to detail ensures guests gain the most enjoyment from their journey. Some of her stand out moments while on tour have been experiencing the Aurora Borealis in Inari, joining the Holi celebrations in India with our guests, walking through the awe-inspiring Petra and camel riding in Wadi Rum.
Denise Van Sever
Denise started in the travel industry in 1994 and being native Belgian, travelling through Europe is like coming home. A love of walking, cycling and nature based activities has seen Denise visit over 75 countries, with her favourite destination usually her last journey abroad. Seeing the Northern Lights, standing under the Menin Gate in Leper and meeting the Gorillas in Uganda on her recent journeys with Captain’s Choice are some personal highlights.
Vicky Bryant
Vicky loves meeting new people, she believes forming fond friendships and forging treasured memories are best outcomes of travelling with Captain’s Choice. Having travelled to over 70 countries Vicky can’t choose a favourite destination as in her own words ‘each country offers a vast, unique and different experience’. A highlight from recent journeys with Captain’s Choice is "The Meeting" of elephants in Sri Lanka and the High Tea country.
Sue Gibbons
Sue Gibbons is a proficient traveller with over 105 countries comfortably under her belt. A tour manager and guide for over 23 years it’s safe to say that travel is her life. The opportunity to immerse in the local culture, interact, learn and support the local communities visited is what she loves most about travel. Joining the Captain’s Choice Team in 2005, Sue’s travel highlights are many: the rush of hooves during the migration in Africa, the shores of Antarctica with penguins around her feet and standing under the dancing northern lights for hours to name a few.
